Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything you need to know about our screeding services in the South West.
What areas do you cover?
We cover the South West of England, including Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset, and the surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether we can help in your location, feel free to get in touch.
What types of screed do you offer?
We specialise in liquid screed installations, including Cemfloor (cement-based) and Gypsol (anhydrite-based) screeds. We can recommend the best option depending on your project needs.
What is the difference between liquid screed and traditional screed?
Liquid screed is a free-flowing, self-levelling material that's faster to install, dries quicker, and provides a smoother finish compared to traditional sand and cement screed. It’s especially ideal for use over underfloor heating systems.
Is liquid screed suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes, liquid screed is perfect for underfloor heating. It fully encapsulates the heating pipes, improving thermal conductivity and energy efficiency compared to traditional screed.
How quickly can I walk on the screed after installation?
Typically, our liquid screeds allow light foot traffic within 24–48 hours after installation, depending on the product used and site conditions.
How long before final floor finishes can be installed?
Final floor finishes (like tiles, wood, or vinyl) can usually be installed once the screed has sufficiently dried. This varies by project but is often ready sooner than with traditional screed. We will advise you based on your specific installation.
Do you offer floor preparation as part of the service?
Yes. We offer full floor preparation services, including DPM installation, insulation laying, edge strips, surface cleaning, and priming to make sure the subfloor is perfectly prepared before screeding.
Can you install the underfloor heating pipework too?
Yes. We provide a complete underfloor heating installation service, including pipework laying, pressure testing, and screeding afterwards — ensuring a seamless, efficient process.
Are you insured?
Yes, SB Screeding is fully covered with public liability insurance for all projects we undertake, giving you peace of mind.
